Question: Emptying prefetch is a handy thing to gain speed on the XP system, what thigns should be deleted from this folder & what should not be?

Anyone know??
Answer: I do not recomend emptying the prefetch. See this article on why:rel="nofollow"www.edbott.com/weblog/archives/000024.html
If you are looking for speedup tips empty these folders instead. c:\documents and settings\user\local settings\temp
c:\documents and settings\user\local settings\temporary internet files.
They help a little. If your system is inexplicably slow it is more likely that you have some kind of spyware. Google for spy bot search and destroy and download that. You can also look in the registry under hkey local machine->software->microsoft->windows->currentversion->run. If there are any entries that you don't reconize export the run key (for backup) and delete them. THey are possibly spyware.
