Question: Thank you for your response. I checked out both websites and will probably use safer-networking. I know how to get into Safe Mode, but I'm afraid you're going to have to explain to me what definition files are. I'm not computer illiterate, but there are a lot of things I don't know. Thanks again.

Question -
I'm having a lot of trouble with my computer lately (slow, some programs not working, etc.)and I have a feeling the culprit is probably adware. How do I get those off my computer? Thanks.
Answer -
These are the two tools I trust the most: rel="nofollow"www.safer-networking.org/ and www.lavasoftusa.com. Watch out for wolves in sheeps clothing. There are a number of so-called antispyware tools out there that are in fact spyware themselves. They only remove the competition. Virtual bouncer is one that I know of. I also recomend that you reboot and run these programs in safe mode. Make sure you update the definition files before hand.
Answer: Don't worry it's pretty easy. Run spybot not under safe mode first. Then click updates and download all the updates. It gives you a choice of where to get the files from pick safernetwork #2. That one always works. Then after everything is updated reboot into safe mode and run the scan. It should take about an hour. |
