Question: How about proxy authentication?
Would the SMTP proxy and reverse proxy be on the same box?

Question -
I am looking for a mail relay solution for redirecting port 25 and 80 coming into my network.
This solution will make it possible for mail to not come directly into our network but to bounce off another software/hardware device before hitting our mail server.
Thanks

rel="nofollow"www.barracudanetworks.com/ is what's called a SMTP proxy. There are lot's of products that do this. ASSP.sourceforge.net will also do this. They have the added plus of filtering spam. For web you could use squid and setup a reverse proxy. Microsoft also makes a proxy server. It's called ISA.
Answer: You could have them on the same box if you used the software solutions. I am pretty sure the barracuda only does mail. In any case most SMTP proxy's will be able to query Active directory for authentication. YOu'll have to confirm that with the vendor though. |
