I have a dell inspiron 6000 lap top and a dell axim x50v and now have a problem with activesync where it is no longer working. Looking into this problem I found that the Network setup wizard found disconnected network hardware: Plug in network cables or otherwise connect your network hardware and then click next: Local area connection: Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated controller.
I have a lap top and do not know what this integrated controller looks like or how to check whether it is connected or not. How does one check or reconnect their network hardware on a lap top? Is this really a software problem that is showing up as a hardware issue? What's going on?
It may have nothing to do with my activesync issue but how do I correct this local area connection broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller issue.
Answer: The integrated adapter is an RJ45 jack on the laptop somewhere. By "disconnected" it means the there is no network cable connecting it to a switch. I am not sure what this has to do with activesync since that is the connection between a PDA and the laptop. See if you can find another rj45 jack on your laptop. Let me know what you find. |

I have an Old win 98 box that I need to extract files from via a network.
the box on on the local lan and has web access etc.
How do I share out a directory and make it visable to my Win XP system
When I click on Map Drive in 98, it comes up with a message saying that I am not logged onto the network...so that is the first problem...

I am fine with networking on Windows XP via the GUI, but not command line scripts, which I suspect is what I need to do on win 98.
Any help would be appreciated
Sincerely
Andrew"
Answer: Windows 98 is all gui too but it is old and clunky. YOu will need to install the Microsoft client for microsoft networks. Right click network neighborhood and choose properties. Then add client. Once you do this reboot and login. It doesn't matter who you login as but Windows will pass that username and password to any windows machines you try to connect to from the 98 box. Also once you login the networking services start and you can share folders. You usually only need the password to share from 98. |
