Question: Hello,

I have Windows XP Pro SP2 and I need to block several IPs in my LAN from seeing the share. What is the best way to do this without using user and group settings and without access to any other computer in my LAN except this one. If it's not possbile to do it from Win, a small software would be fine.

Thanks.
Answer: Windows is not really setup to restrict access by IP. You can however use the built in XP firewall to sort of do that. Add "file sharing" as an exception. Then highlight the entry and click edit. Then click on each of the 4 entries there and hit change scope. From there you can allow only specific IP addresses access to that service.
