Question: Hi,
I am doing an internet sharing for my two pcs at home. The first pc, I put the IP address as : 192.168.0.1 and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. Similarly, on the second PC I put the ip address as : 192.168.0.2 and the subnet mask as 255.255.255.0. The question is what will I put the Gateaway address column on these two pcs, when enabling internet sharing. Can you guide me.
I await to hearing from you.
Regards.
Kumar
Answer: One computer will server as the gateway(and no, I don't mean the cow computers!) This computer must have 2 nics. One nic is configured to connect to the Internet. The other NIC is configured as you have already done. Then you install ICS and on the other computer set the network to get the address from DHCP. The gateway computer will give out the addresses via a built in DHCP. |
