|
Question: Hi,
I don't know if this is your area, exactly, but I have just bought at 150 gb hard drive and am wondering if you can recommend how I might format it for best efficiency. I know I should partition it, right? Can you recommend a way?
Also, I'd rather like to put other operating systems on it to play with, such as Windows 2000 server, XP, maybe Exchange Server, maybe Win 98 (for my old programs).
Can such a thing be done? I'll welcome any of your thoughts on any of this. Thanks!
Answer: The easiest way to format is just do a simple windows quick format. If you are concerned with completely erasing the old data then you want to do a low level format. There are several tools that will do a low level format. Windows won't do it by default though. This link is to a boot disk that should have a low level format. rel="nofollow"mcseforum.com/forum/about17.html
As far as the multi boot goes, just install the first os and then the second etc. When installing the second pick a different default directory like windows2 or windowsxp etc. If you want 98 or 95 make sure your format it fat32. |
