|
Question:
Dear Sir,
I have few questions and I hope that I will get the satisfactory asnwers from you.
1. I am facing a problem on one of the Windows 2000 Professional computer. My problem is I can't copy and paste some from the Windows 2000 Server on this computer. Either from the client or from the server (Domain controller Windows 2003) I can't copy and paste something. It takes hours to cope and paste something from the server and at the end nothing happens.
Sometimes it gives error, which is like that "the specified network or server does not exist. I disjoined the computer from the domain and again join it with the domain but the problem is still there.
I checked all the services but nothing happened.
Can you tell me what's the problem with that computer.
All other computer on the network are working fine and performing all the jobs.
Your help in this matter will be highly appreciated.
Thanks
Kashif
Answer: On the client, It could have a virus. Check for that. Also make sure that the DNS is pointing to the server. Maybe it is losing name resolution. Also try disconnecting the mapped drive and remapping it. You can also use the nbtstat command to help trouble shoot. Type nbtstat -a 192.168.1.1 where 192.168.1.1 is the IP of the server. See if it gives you the computer name. Let me know how that goes and we will go from there. |
