Question: i have a dlink dwlg650+ access card. when i turn my router off & turn it back on, i can connect to my laptop wirelessly but only for 5-10 minutes & than i get disconnect.

i want to know:
-how i can fix this problem, i have the latest updates on my xp (sp2...etc) but am not willing to put the latest firmware on the device as it may corrupt the device.

& Also On the Admin Page ...
1) under wireless, Do I need to enable HIDDEN SSID ?
2) under advanced mode/wireless, do I enable/disable SSID BROADCASTING ?
3) under advanced mode/wireless, what AUTHENTICATION should I use
OPEN/SHARED ?

Please offer me some valuable advise on this issue & how I can resolve this.

Rgds,
Anthony

Answer: Just a thought but are there other wireless networks near you? If you can see another wireless network sometimes the laptop will automatically and randomly connect to another wireless network for whatever reason. You can tell XP to connect only to the prefered Acces point. Try that route. I don't have a wireless card in my machine right now so I can't talk you through each step but it should be in the properties of the connection. Let me know if you can't find it and I will get a wireless card and take you through it step by step.
