Question: Good Day

I do not know if this an Office prob or an WinXP prob. Bear with me please.

When user opens A word or excell document a message box appears stating that the program can not open 2 files with the same name. This happens when double clicked and when the file is highlighted and the Open function is selected.

Note:
Fresh install of WinXp SP2 and Office 97 mostly default settings. Networked to NT 4. Static TCP/IP addresses. LMHOSTS lookup disabled. NetBios over Tcp/IP enabled. No WINS. There is one XP client which behaves

Diagnose/troubleshooting:

Set NetBios over Tcp/IP enabled.
Checked mouse settings and slowed the click speed.
Checked settings in folder options. Made sure offline files is disabled.

Asked XP expert who said this was outside of their expertese
Answer: It could be a macro virus. Try www.trendmicro.com. They have a free virus scanner.
