Question:
Dear Sir,
I have a problem on one of of the Windows 2000 computer.
The problem is that when a user logon on to the network. The user's local profile that was created by the last login disappeared on the computer that he uses. So everytime when every user user logon on to the specific computer on a network. His settings are not saved so he has to make new Desktop shortcuts, performing settings, browser settings, etc.
Please tell me how to solve this problem and how can the user's profile be saved on a specific computer.
Thanks a lot
Kashif
Answer: It sounds like there might be a registry issue on the machine. Go to control panel, system, advanced tab then performance options, change and make sure that your registry is not out of space. You might also try to find some registry checkers on downloads.com and run a chkdsk /r and reboot. My guess is that if you go to c:\documents and settings\ you will find many profile directories like username.000 username.001 etc. If windows can't record where the profile directory is in the registry then it will keep creating new ones |
