Question: To set up a D-Link 302G using the USB cable, I browse to 10.1.1.2 & put in admin admin for username & passowrd & set the quick configuration to:
refresh rate: no refresh
connection type: pppoa vc-mux
vpi: 0
vci: 100
username: is put in as Zack.Rocha.xadsl@xtra.co.nz & I enter in my password correctly.
I check tools --> internet options & set it to "never dial a connection" & in lan settings I ensure autmatically detect settings is ticked.
Than I set the DNS settings by going start control panel & entereing in 202.27.184.3 for preferred & alternate: 202.27.184.5
Than I still can't browse so I go & do an IP config all & get the IP address, subnet mask & defualt gateway which I apply to the manually obtain an IP address & yet I still cannot browse the internet, the ethernet light is on solid, the power light is on & the adsl light is on & solid & the status is blinking.
I do a reset & restart the computer & still nothing works.
What can I do next apart form ensuring the ADSL line is fine & rechecking my username & password with my ISP provider to get the modem to work? Anyone have any ideas.
Also with the USB drive, I have to go into Device manager by right clicking my computer & locating the drivers & sometimes there is an exclamation mark there & I update but it won't update so is the un-install & reinstall of the drivers the best option?
Answer: I say scrap the usb and get a NIC. Ok, Ok I know yo don't want to buy more equipment. Try going to a command prompt and pinging 129.250.35.250. That will tell us if you have just a DNS problem. If it doesn't reply then you have a connection problem. Also try pinging the gateway. I am betting that you might have to reinstall the USB stuff. The yellow ! is never a good sign |
