When you say blank spot I assume the you are only running 1 processor. The first voltage regulator is built into the board. You can't replace it. Replace the entire main board, it is fried. |

Don't replace the board yet. If you only need to run one processor, swap the processor to slot 2 and plug in the relevant VRM (see IBM netfinity 5100 web page for FRU number) and put a processor termination card in slot one. The Netfin should boot up fine using processor 2 as the BSP processor. An error light will still show on the front panel. A replacement board is abou £700.00 here in the UK used ones range from £20 to £200. be carefull buying used as most have this error (common on this machine) later boards are more reliable (see IBM web site for FRU parts list). It dosnt mean the machine can not be used though.  |
