Question: Hi,
We are running an ISP with two RAS servers(PDC, BDC), in one the servers we have an accounting software which we create our accounts with the service they request and automatically creates the accounts in another server , but recently we recieve some errors in BDC Server in event viewer section, Would you please help me;
Note that we have recently changed the PDC Server.
The servers MAHVAR2 and MAHVAR3 both claim to be an NT Domain Controller for the DOMAIN domain. One of the servers should be removed from the domain because the servers have different security identifiers (SID).
Event:5511
-----------------
Replication of the BUILTIN Local Group "Rid: 0x220" from primary domain controller MAHVAR2 failed with the following error:
Cannot perform this operation on built-in accounts.
Event: 5731
--------------------
The partial synchronization replication of the BUILTIN database from the primary domain controller \\MAHVAR2 failed with the following error:
Cannot perform this operation on built-in accounts.
Event:5716
Answer: With NT 4.0 in order to replace a PDC you have to remove it, promote the BDC to a PDC, then install the new server into the old domain as a BDC. Then you can promote it back. If you installed the pdc from scratch there is really no way to migrate it back except to start over with the above process. |
